Thursday Thirteen #3

Medical expenses our family had in the last month.

1. $15 - Doctor's appointment for Cutie with a strep test (negative).
2. $15 - Doctor's appointment for Ant with a strep test (positive).
3. $10 - Antibiotics for Ant
4. $10 - Antibiotics for Cutie, to be safe
5. $10 - Prozac--(thank Goodness for insurance co-pays) to help me stay balanced.
6. $100 - Provigil--(that's the co-pay! You Provigil people need to lower your price.) to help me stay awake while I am balanced.
7. $15 - Doctor's appointment to look up Bud's chronic stuffy nose.
8. $10 - Prescription allergy medicine
9. $10 - Another prescription for nasal spray
10. $40 - For a 1 1/2 hour wait to see a "specialist" who stuck a tiny camera up Bud's nose for 10 seconds to check adenoids (they're ok).
11. $15 - Terry saw a physical therapist for back/hip pain.
12. $15 - Bud was taken to the quick care last night for x-rays and a splint after being pushed off his scooter.
13. $40 - Bud is taken to the orthopaedic doctor today and gets a blue cast on his broken arm.

$305 later, I'm grateful that we are all basically healthy.

That's crazy! Insurance really should cover more than it does.

I wrote on one of my first blogs why Europe is in many ways a more nurturing place to live. You might what to read it and then complain to the American government why they care who smokes cigarettes but doesn't give a hoot about national healthcare for its citizens.
It costs an arm and a leg and a house for healthcare. A rich country like the USA has more than enough money to cover all its people.
This is one of my most passionate concerns.

Like you said, at least you are all relatively healthy! *sigh* Medical expenses are so depressing. Even with the pretty good coverage I have, the deductibles get us every time. We don't really get sick enough to go beyond the deductibles, so we always end up paying! Ugh.

If it weren't for medical bills, I'd be a very rich woman! Sounds like you're in the same boat.

DH had a prescript for eye drops. Total cost of scrip...$40.99 our co-pay $40! Why did the insurance even bother??? His eyes are much better now. Most of the time I feel our insurance is a big joke...but I did appreciate that there was no co-pay for my mamogram.

My tt is up http://lillyput.blogspot.com/

I am SO with you on this. Our family is pretty healthy yet STILL, just with the wear and tear of life, our medical expenses have a way of creeping up. It can get really discouraging.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one freaking about Libby!

I took Provigil and was horrified by the co-pay! (taking Cytomel now and ditched Provigil)

Stay well! We upped our co-pays to keep our rates the same for this year (over $1600.00/month YIKES!) I have similar $$ lists. "Let us not grow weary in well-doing...etcetc!" :-)C
