Yesterday was Ant's 8th birthday party with 13 boys from his school class. The plan was to go to the park for the party to they could play and have fun for less expense (financially and mentally) to me. Wouldn't you know it, they day began as overcast, but the clouds weren't dropping anything so I still had some hope. Until my sister called asking about the alternate plans since the weather man was predicting thunder showers at party time. What alternate plans? STRESS!
I didn't know what to do, so I said a prayer explaining our finances, laying out the birthday plans, and asking Him to hold the rain or inspire us in making alternate plans. What came to my mind was Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God". I brushed it away because I thought it was just my wishful thinking, besides, didn't I just read that off someone else's blog recently? The party was 6 hours away, and I had a lot to do.
I checked out a party venue with a huge play gym and a huge fee and left. Then I thought, well if it does rain, we could pack all 13 kids in our two cars and go to the nearest pizza place. How not fun. Then I started checking the sky every ten minutes. I saw some breaks, but would they last?
Do you think God cares about a little 8-year-old's birthday party in the park? Well all I know is that the clouds were leaving as we were driving to the park and the sun was shining brightly all throughout the party. Was the weatherman mistaken or did God answer my prayer with a big OK? What do you think?

Mary
Beautiful!
Reminds me of my wedding day....there were big wild ires in the area at the time and as we drove to where our wedding was taking place, the sky was gloomy, smoke was everywhere and I was SAD! As we drove over the hill and saw the temple we would be married in, the smoke and clouds had cleared and the sun shone through! I'll never forget that!
What a sweet story. I am glad your prayers were answered. Happy Birthday to your son!
Laughing at, "didn't I just read that off someone else's blog recently?"
I know we're not the only one's looking after our little ones:).
Glad you had a great party for your son. God really does answer our prayers.
