A Few More Updates

My sister's local paper ran a story today about my brother-in-law's drug addiction, accidental overdose, and death. They interviewed his parents for it, but the story was printed without notifying my sister--his wife. Imagine waking up and finding a story about the husband you buried a week ago on the front page of the paper! That's classy, dumb newspaper people.

Art camp has been a lot better after Monday's longest paper chain. The boys have painted a color wheel, made parts of a mural, painted shields with a crest, and had lots of fun. We can sign off that color wheel project in Ant's Wolf Cub Scout book--Bonus! The teacher has really helped Bud who is the youngest member of the class, and, admittedly, probably should not have attended this year. But I'm glad he did. When they made the crest, Bud put a big B in the background, and then put CTR on top of it. The teacher said "I don't know why he chose those letters, they're not his initials." I told him they stand for Choose The Right--a phrase from church, and I'm pleasantly suprised because I didn't think he was absorbing much from there. He's a lot brighter than he lets on.

Speaking of Bud, it's his birthday. Five years ago I looked out the hospital window and saw several hot-air balloons floating in the sky while I was in labor. The balloons were up in the sky again today.

Dh's 1980s Mercedes just received a new fuel pump and I think we're ready to sell it and get a scooter--no, not the Razor kind, the motorized kind. It would save a ton of gas money. I can't wait to learn to ride it. Although, I don't know what Dh is going to do for transportation in the winter. Good thing his work is just a few miles away.

I can't believe the newspaper people!! How horrible! I am glad Bud is enjoying his art class....and that is so great he put CTR on his shield! A scooter would be so fun!

I love the image of hot air balloons outside while you were in labor. So surreal. Happy birthday to him.

I'm glad art camp is going so well. The first day is always hard at camps. It really is a lot about the get to know you stuff.

Can't believe the paper did that. I hope your sister is ok.

I can't believe that they would do that. That's awful. Sounds like art is going much better!! It's amazing what kids are actually learning. I think more than they lead on.

Glad the art class has improved! And sorry about the lame newspaper people. :(

FYI: We were/are friends with the Temple President and Matron who were there for the opening of the Caracas temple! I think we may get to see them this summer. That's cool your dad served there.

I'm mostly mad about them printing a picture of my baby on the front page without asking me..and the innaccuracies in the article...and acting like I don't even matter. but whatever. Happy Birthday BUD!!! Give him a big kiss from his auntie and cousin BKP!!!

What a terrible thing to wake up to. How is your sister coping?

The art camp sounds so fun. But sounds so creative!

We have been looking into selling our sedan and buying a scooter for DH. Since his commute is to our basement, it just seems to make sense. Only NO freeways!

I'm so sorry that happened to your sister! Journalists can be so insensitive. And good for Bud, he's a little missionary already!

Stephanie - I just got a crazy image of your husband riding down the basement stairs on a scooter. I know that isn't what you meant, but I got a kick out of it!

Those newspaper people have no class! So sorry. I hope you sister is fareing better!

Glad camp is picking up in expectations for you and your kids! So proud of Bud for putting CTR on his shield! Kids really do absorb more than we think.

P.S. I just read Nettie's comment and her vision of your hubby on the scooter. To funny.
