We purchased the scooter. This is a Bajaj Chetak "Classic Styling on Modern Machinery" in Metallic Jade. Dh loves retro-looking things and this scooter suits him well. It has manual transmission, and is a little tricky to drive--especially if you've never driven a motorcycle or scooter before, like me. A few hours after we got it home, I was in the cul-de-sac trying it out. My Harley-driving neighbor came outside to watch and made me more nervous.
I got the bike going ok, but when it came time to stop I had some difficulty using both the foot and hand breaks and tipped the bike over on it's side--twice. I scratched the back of the rear-view mirror pretty well. Dh was really good about not having a cow over it. Oh, yeah, and I was o.k. too--there's just a big welt on my shin. I couldn't let it end that way, though. I had to go back out there and master it, and that's just what I did--twice. And now I'm satisfied.
P.S. A big change is coming in July. I just know you're going to love it!

I need to hide this from Hubby. I think he has always had motorcycle desire, and this would be a really nice midway point for him. Glad you are ok though. I've fallen off of one of those things before and it was not fun.
Moving to Blogsome, huh? Well, I'm sad I'll see no more of your alphabet letters in my comments but of the few sites I've seen at Blogsome, they've all been gorgeous. I may have some blog envy.
Ack! I must never show this to my husband. I will never hear the end of it. LOL! You are a very cool wife.
My DH and I have been talking about getting rid of his sedan and going with a scooter. I only have on requirement...no freeways.
Keep us posted about how you like it. I would really like to hear some REAL feedback!
I'm not sure if it's a law where I live, but it's illegal to ride these scooters on the freeway. They're not supposed to go that fast anyway. It saves us gas money, so, what the heck.
Super cool!
Great to see you today!
Is the front tire sticking up off the ground? It doesn't look like it is resting on the driveway.
My husband and I have talked about making a change like this for a long time too. It looks like a lot of fun to drive.
Oshee - Instead of a kick-stand, it has a stand that does lift the front tire up. It's kind of a pain, so Terry had a kick-stand installed today.
